On August 22nd, the Southern Highlands Reserve generously hosted the second Southern Appalachian Spruce Restoration Initiative meeting. The group heard presentations about upcoming planting and cone collecting activities, and an update about the Spruce-Fir Moss Spider. The group also determined a need to create a restoration plan and associated maps for the Southern Blue Ridge. And the highlight of the day was a tour of the Southern Highlands Reserve and a peek at the spruce seedlings they have propagated. Please check out the notes, presentations and photos to find out more about the events of the day.
