Restoration Approach
Restoration Approach
This document describes CASRI’s approach to red spruce-northern hardwood ecosystem restoration in the Central Appalachians. CASRI embarked on restoration work to further the realization of its vision: a functioning red spruce (Picea rubens) – northern hardwood forest ecosystem, restored across portions of its former range on both public and private lands, with the scale, connectivity, maturity and other features that provide functional habitat to sustain and enhance the viability of the many species and natural communities dependent on this ecosystem.
